It Started with Apples and Ginger: Apple Cider Ginger Donut Holes

Some time last year, I bought a juicer. Since that fateful day, that juicer has come out from the cupboard almost every day to juice so many combinations of veggies and fruits…and on one of those days, the stars aligned and pink lady apples and ginger collided into the perfect flavor with this ever delicious texture. Can juice have texture?! I say yes! I was in love with this perfect marriage of refreshing, crisp and spicy flavor! I think of that apple ginger cider almost every day since that day until I find myself making it again while I also imagine how I’m going to combine this juice into all kinds of things like apple cider ginger donut holes!

These here apple cider ginger donut holes are my first venture into donuts of any sort. I thought donut holes instead of donuts cuz well, they felt easier to make for testing donut batter…which has proven true. The only real problem I have found with this test batch is that I keep eating them! I mean they’re holes! They are like eating air! Right? RIGHT!

The flavor is perfect, I’d hafta admit - especially covered in cinnamon sugar. The texture isn’t quite right yet. But I have ideas on what I’ll do in my next test batch! Meanwhile, I will still share these donut holes with neighbors and friends to see how they like the flavor and what they’d like to see me do next with them…and while I usually refrain from eating many of the baked goods that come out of the tiny kitchen, I will hold a few back to savor with a cuppa nice black tea come morning.
