I’ve decided that my desserts gain me entrance into many of my friend, Unhei’s dinner parties.  I can’t say for sure if it’s me suggesting a dessert for a yet-to-be-planned dinner party at Unhei’s or if Unhei invites me to a dinner party and then she asks if I could make dessert — cart before the horse, horse between the cart.  At the end of the day, for this particular dinner party, we were celebrating the anniversary of Unhei’s birth AND I had been dreaming in both pumpkin, apples and buttery, flakey pie crusts.  So for Unhei’s gift and to fully live out my dream, I decided I’d just make two desserts — a pumpkin roulade and a red wine caramel layered apple pie.  While I think the desserts were well received (I’ve been invited back for subsequent gatherings with more desserts from my kitchen), what was memorable for me was being able to demonstrate my love and respect for a friend who appreciates really good food and the care I take in preparing something I believe she will enjoy.  On top of it all, Unhei has a kitchen that people who love to cook would appreciate.  The night was a win-win for all!
